MDAA Fall Workshop
October 17 - 20, 2025

We are thrilled to be holding our Fall Workshop in Billings! Our Great Falls Workshop Directors, Julia Marble Blass and Leigh Schanfein, have a fabulous line-up of guest instructors ready to energize, inspire, and fuel our dance spirits! The weekend includes classes in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary, as well as some fun specialty classes: composition, partnering, musical theater, popping and locking, using comedy in dance, contemporary repertory, stretch & strength, variations, and contemporary ballet. We are also thrilled to once again have Teacher Fellowship recipient Tanya Call teach an introduction to BrainDance for dance instructor and directors.

Classes will be in three locations, two of which are within walking distance in Downtown Billings. MDAA has secured blocks at downtown hotels, also within walking distance of those studio spaces and just a 10-minute drive to the third studio. The highlight of every Fall Workshop is the Student Showcase! Studios are invited to share pieces from their school’s repertoire. Come cheer on your fellow Montana dancers. This is a fun-for-all evening, you won’t want to miss it. Teachers, please see the Showcase Form link below. For an extra special touch this year we will have the showcase in a theater setting!

Student Choreographers, don’t miss the chance to have your work adjudicated by our guest faculty. See below and download forms for the rules, information, and applying for the Donna Jewell Choreography Prize.

MDAA T-shirts and stickers will be available for purchase on a first come-first served basis. They will be available at the Registration Table along with tickets to our annual raffle!

Other Reminders

  • All participants are required to check-in at the Registration Table to pick up their Workshop Packets and wristband BEFORE attending any classes. Wristbands are required to attend classes. Please plan accordingly.

  • Early check-in is at Montana Dance Center on Thursday, October 17th, from 5:00-8:00pm, and continues Friday & Saturday 7:15 am-3:00 pm, & Sunday 7:15 am - 11am.

  • MDAA Professional Membership Meeting is Saturday, October 19th at *** starting at 12:15 pm. All instructors are invited and encouraged to attend. Please use the Lunch Order Link if you would like us to place an order for you and have your order ready at the meeting.

  • Vendors will be on site throughout the weekend for all your dancewear and dance photo needs! Please contact them directly with any questions: The Spokane Dance Shop at 509.279.8935 and Clara Foster Photography at clarafosterphotography@gmail.com.

  • Dress Code: Ballet: solid colored leotard (must be black for any audition), tights and shoes. No skirts, warm-ups, etc. Jazz, Tap & Modern: Appropriate shoes with tops that cover the midriff and pants/tights that cover the legs at least to the knees.

Student Fees
Annual $25 Student Membership will be charged to all Student Registrations

1-Day Pass = $150 After October 11th = $200
2-Day Pass = $200 After October 11th = $250
3-Day Pass = $225 After October 11th = $275

Professional Membership Fees
All instructors are required to have a current Professional Membership
Level 1 = $40, Level 2 = $150: See above for a membership form

1-Day Pass = $60 After October 11th = $85
2-Day Pass = $70 After October 11th = $95
3-Day Pass = $80 After October 11th = $105

COLLEge student fees

College student annual membership fees are $25, and workshop Day Pass fees are the same as for Professional Members.


How to Register

Please note there has been an update to our JackRabbit account and everyone will need to update their billing information.
We are completing set up for new e-payments processing. You will not be able to make payments at the time of your registration. You will be given a 3-day notice before payments are processed.

  3. A Student Membership fee will be charged to all student accounts
