MDAA Fall Workshop
October 20-22, 2023
Billings, MT

Please read through the workshop information, and
then see below for instructions on how to register for classes.

We are thrilled to be holding our Fall Workshop in Billings! Our Billings Workshop Directors, Julia Marble Blass and Samantha Sandefur, have a fabulous line-up of guest instructors ready to energize, inspire, and fuel our dance spirits! We thank the School of Classical Ballet at the Montana Dance Center and Movement Montana Arts Academy for use of their wonderful studios!

The weekend includes classes in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary classes. Enhance your dance training by attending the extra classes: musical theater, variations, time steps, contemporary partnering, breakdancing, improvisation, and jazz funk.

Don’t miss The Artist Onstage, with Wendy Masterson, on Thursday, October 19th. The class will explore the dynamics of creating stage presence and engaging the audience through simple movement sequences.  These explorations can be integrated into daily technique classes, rehearsal and performance, and the process of choreography.  This is a Level III/IV class.

Billings will be very busy the weekend of the workshop. See the hotel information below and plan to book your rooms early!

The highlight of every Fall Workshop is the Student Showcase! Studios are invited to share pieces from their school’s repertoire. Come cheer on your fellow Montana dancers. This is a fun-for-all evening, you won’t want to miss it. Teachers, please see the Showcase Form below.

Student Choreographers, don’t miss the chance to have your work adjudicated by our guest faculty. See below for information about the Donna Jewell Choreography Prize.

MDAA T-shirts will be available for purchase on a first come-first served basis. These shirts feature the artwork of MDAA student Charlotte Jessop from Ballet Bitterroot Dance Academy. They will be available at the Registration Table.
